Carbide.c++ UI Designer vs Game API

    Hello,

I would like to hear your opinion about what is the best way to start building sweet looking UI. Right now it looks that there is three way to do it with Carbide.c++ UI Designer, with game API or with basic UI Components. I don't have any experience from UI Designer or game API but with UI components user interface building is hard and slowly at least if you want to make sweet looking UI.

So could someone give me some hints about how would it be to build sweet looking UI with UI Designer and Game API. At least using Game API I could get flexiber UI designing but it might take more time to finnish application UI. Also in the future 3D interfaces building could be done with Game API. Anything else that I should know?

Just did first test with Carbide.c++ UI Designer. I begin wondering that can't you change application skins with this application?

No, for skin changes you need Carbide.ui, in Symbian skins are called Themes.

Can you include themes that you have made with Carbide.ui in your application? or do you have to distribute it separately and install just like normal theme?

How have you user interface specialist decoraded your Symbian UIs? Can you modify colours for basic UI components, can you change application background image and upper and bottom panel images in third edition? Sorry, im just so curious how to make sweet looking UIs with Symbian C++.

Yes, you could include a theme with an application as an embedded .sis file at least. This is however not exactly the same as being able to skin individual applications. Note also that you need to follow good coding conventions in order to enable your application to actually use the theme.
