    hi,

"pinging" url means including user interaction,

    on S40 there is a property "com.nokia.network.access":
    http://forum.nokia.com/Technical_Lib...properties.htm

currently simply start network request and "let the things go",
the only solution in j2me I guess,

    regards,
    peter

Why are you again raising dead threads from 2006 ? please stop doing that.
since peterblazejewicz was last active on 2009 i doubt that he will answer you.

if by ping you mean ICMP protocol then ICMP is not built-in as a protocol in MIDP however you can implement it yourself ontop of udpdatagram protocol BUT i dont know why you would need it if your URL is a HTTP URL then simply open an http connection to that url and check the response code, if you got 200 code then your connection is working and you can reach that URL.
