Question Are there any SDK/APIs to invoke application on the mobile from PC

I would like to do the following

    1. Invoke application to run on a nokia mobile phone, from a PC
    2. Generate keyboard events on the mobile phone as if a user were typing the keys

Please suggest the SDK/APIs that I need to be using the achieve the above.

    IDE: Code Warrior
    Platform: Symbian S60 V3
    Language: C++

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

You would need to write also a phone based "server" (or "client" depending on which way you look at things) in addition to your PC app, and then have your PC app send "commands" to the phone app (and possibly return results as appropriate).

Question Re: Are there any SDK/APIs to invoke application on the mobile from PC

    Yes. Thanks.
So are there APIs available to send commands from the PC app to the phone app through a USB connection. I dont want to be writing the communication part.

Please let me know SDK/APIs that are de facto for communication from PC to Phone.

On the windows mobile side there is ActiveSync libraries which has APIs to commicate and invoke applications on the mobile. Is ther a equivalent for Symbian?

    Thanks in Advance

No, you have to - more or less - write the whole comms protocol stuff yourself, too.

Symbian has some PC comms APIs, but they depend on m-Router technology from IntuWave, and Nokia hasn't been using that in Symbian devices after the 6600 (since 3-4 years).

Nokia has also an older SDK for older phones (the PC Connectivity SDK 3.0), and a newer one (the PC Suite Connectivity SDK 1.1, and if you are a Forum Nokia PRO member, then there's also v2.0 that's available).

You can find both the old PC Connectivity SDK v3.0 and PC Suite APIs v1.1 in the tools & SDKs section on http://forum.nokia.com/
