    Hello dear,

You can use FILERUN, RUNINSTALL in your .pkg file.
Just have a look at following link:
    http://www.symbian.com/developer/tec...ang_indep.html

    A relevant thread: http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...ad.php?t=86715

Yes, you can write a small Recongnizer programm to that. The programm can be started automatically afrer device booting. You can search information about that with key words auto start or recongizer.

    Hello EkEK,

Refer to the following thread for autostarting your application at boot-up time.
    http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...ad.php?t=91079

I hope this will help you.

    Regards.

Thank you all for the replys.
After reading few link that I get, I think the recognizer is the best way to do this.
    I'll try to implement this.
    Thanks again.

Re: automatic start application after installation

    Hello friends,

I also want my application to be started automatically after installation, I was just trying it with helloworld application by specifying following line into the pkg file

    "..\..\..\epoc32\release\gcce\urel\HelloWorldBasic.exe" -"!:\sys\bin\HelloWorldBasic.exe " , FILERUN, RI

But with these options I am getting an error "Unable to Install" during installation.

Without these options the application runs perfectly fine. Is there anything else we need to do besides discussed in this thread?

    I am using Nokia E65.

    Thanks in advance.

Re: automatic start application after installation

    Hi Friends,
Now I am getting the error that "Required application access not granted". I feel that this is related to application capabilities.
I have a developer license and I have given following capabilities to test(If I'm not wrong all available in developer lisence):
    LocalServices
    Location
    NetworkServices
    PowerMgmt
    ProtServ
    ReadDeviceData
    ReadUserData
    SurroundingsDD
    SwEvent
    TrustedUI
    UserEnvironment
    WriteDeviceData
    WriteUserData

Could anybody there tell me what application capabilities are required for this feature and is it under developer lisence?

    Thanks.

Having all the capabilities in the Developer Certificate does not mean that it applies to your application.

You need to add capabilities in your .mmp file too.

PS: After modifying .mmp file, you have to rebuild/re-import your project to get it affected.

Re: automatic start application after installation

    Thanks for the reply.

I mean I applied the capabilities to application by specifying them in .mmp file and rebuilding the application.
After applying these capabilities I am getting the error mentioned.

What I want to know is that which capability is required for application to start automatically after installation?

Ok. Generally you may not require any specific capabilities for FR,RI option. But it should be signed with Developer Certificate.

I will try it my own and will let you know the results.

Re: automatic start application after installation

    Thanks for your reply.

    What I noticed is that,
If one tries to apply capabilities which are not in the developer lisence (and in turn sign your application with developer license) it says the "required application capabilities are not granted" (of-course beacause those are not part of developer license) and if we don't apply those capabilities (i.e. apply only capabilities available in developer license) it is saying "unable to install".
If I specify the FILERUN RI for other file(other than exe) it says that can't execute file due to security reasons.

If you could get something out of it, that will be great.

    Regards,
    Atul

Make sure the uid is in the protected range. Also, you may want to try using FR,RI instead
