The GMail related settings info you need is here:
    http://mail.google.com/support/bin/a...y?answer=13287

In addition you need the Internet Access Point settings for/from your network operator (WAP will not do).

    Re: E-mail Settings for N6270

    HI,

    Thank you for your reply.

But GMail works on Encrypt SSL (Secure Socket Layer). In my phone has in the SMTP secure login menu; CRAM-MD5, LOGIN, PLAIN. And in POP3 secure login menu APOP. Which should to be used for GMail?

My operator has its internet connection & I do every thing with internet APN. And I could & successfully operate my another Email ID with my Nokia 6270. But failed in GMail.

For your info I was tried all kinds of general process. I hope may be I need some thing else, like user certificate or another configuration.

So if you know on this regard please help me. And GMail is most important for me to configure in my phone's client.

    Thank you.

    Milton

How about Google's new Java email client app?

Connect here with your phone's browser so that it detects it is a phone and offers the app: http://gmail.com/app

    More also here: http://www.google.com/press/pressrel...ileclient.html

Thanks peterb also for the suggestion - it looks good on the 6270. Has anyone else been able to configure as per Milton's suggestion

"In my phone has in the SMTP secure login menu; CRAM-MD5, LOGIN, PLAIN. And in POP3 secure login menu APOP. Which should to be used for GMail?"

or got GMAIL to work via the built in mail app.

    Thanks!

    Re: E-mail Settings for N6270

    Hi sc532j,

I think u also suffering as par with my problem. I still not found any solution for GMail to work in default nokia's email app.

GMail's app is good but it has so many barrier like I can't attached any file for sending email & also can't save attached files which I received via email in my memory card, etc.

I repeat that GMail works on Encrypt connection SSL (Secure Socket Layer) & needs trusted secured network's certification for authenticate to Gmail account. And nokia corporation may be forget to install such certificate in N6270 or think Google (Gmail) is one of the BAD COMPANY.

I'm also afraid to say nokia makes a great mistake.

I hope someone or nokia's technical experts will help us with our desired line.

    Thank u.

    Re: E-mail Settings for N6270

I don't know about N6270, but I'm using the N93 and its built-in Messaging app and I can send and receive email using a Gmail account just fine.

Here are the settings I use (based on the link to instructions I posted earlier in this thread:

    Messaging | Options | Settings | E-mail | Mailboxes | Gmail

    Connection settings | Incoming-email
    - User name: first.last@gmail.com
    - Password: password
    - Incoming mail serv.: pop.gmail.com
    - Access point in use: Internet
    - Mailbox name: Gmail
    - Mailbox type: POP3
    - Security (ports): SSL/TLS
    - Port: 995
    - APOP secure login: Off

    Connection settings | Incoming-email
    - My e-mail address: first.last@gmail.com
    - User name: first.last@gmail.com
    - Password: password
    - Outgoing mail serv.: smtp.gmail.com
    - Access point in use: Internet
    - Security (ports): StartTLS
    - Port: 587

    User settings
    - My name: First Last
    - Send message: Immediately
    - Send copy to self: Yes
    - Include signature: No
    - New e-mail alerts: On

    Retrieval settings:
    - E-mail to retrieve: Msgs. & attachs.
    - Retrieval amount | From Inbox: All
    - Automatic retrieval | Header retrieval: Disabled

The "Internet" access point is my network operator's standard GPRS packet data Internet Access Point. If I change access point to "Always ask" and use my Wi-Fi/WLAN connection, it works, too.
