    S60 3rd MR SDK - virtual MMC

    Hi,

can someone explain me if this feature works? Is it possible to send a sample epoc.ini? If the drive E: is available and you install an application into this drive, will the emulator show the icon for that application under "Installat." and will you be able to start the application.

    I have in epoc.ini:

    _EPOC_DRIVE_E c:\Symbian\9.1\S60_3rd_MR\epoc32\winscw\e
    _EPOC_LocDrv_1 e: FAT

    I have in e:

    epoc32\winscw\e\sys\bin\welcome.exe
    epoc32\winscw\e\resource\apps\welcome.rsc
    epoc32\winscw\e\private\10003a3f\apps\welcome_reg.rsc

Is it possible for this to work (in TechView SDK it works)?

    BR,

Re: S60 3rd MR SDK - virtual MMC

Rene, it seems Symbian OS world is so small. Not sure if you still remember me. We met in Bochum, Germany about 2.5 years ago during Symbian OS training.

Anyway, the MMC emulation in the latest SDK is different from TechView SDK (and unfortunately a bit complicated). Please read the following documentation, http://www.symbian.com/developer/tec...ToMMCcard.html how to setup MMC emulation.

There is a small typo in the documentation. The location of .bin file is not Windows temporary folder. It is in \epoc32\data\media.

Re: S60 3rd MR SDK - virtual MMC

    Hi Antony,

yes - I remember - I also have seen your personal home page. It seems your Symbian career goes well - you moved to Vancouver, right?

Meanwhile I am on a project at Teleca in Bochum. We also have grown a lot bigger as PCA Mobile. Specializing in field service solutions we are approx. 40 people. Inside that there is a smartphone unit with approx. 4 people. Still small, but a dedicated focus on Series 60/Symbian OS (and still STP).

For the MMC card emulation. I have read and tried this documentation. On TechView it works fine. I would like to know if someone has succeeded to get the same thing working in S60 emulators, preferably 3rd MR edition.

I need not only to get the MMC card working, but the emulator should also show any application which are installed on the virtual MMC card.

    Anyway, thanks for your contribution.

    BR,

Yes, you're right. I am moving to Vancouver last year.

I have managed to make it working in S60 3rd MR actually. What is your problem? Note that you also need to format the MMC drive before you can actually use it.

OK - good hint - maybe that's why it says corrupted. To be continued ...
