    Problems closing a GPRS connection

    Hi!

    I've developed an application that downloads 4 images from the web and show it in a Form. After the download, I close the connection and in a Form I show the Images (there are two methods, one where I download the images, and close the connection and other where I show the images):

    Code:
    finally {

                        try {
                             if (dinputs != null) dinputs.close();
                             if (connect != null) connect.close();

                        }catch (IOException ex) {ex.printStackTrace();}
    But in the phone (not in the emulator) the icon of "Active GPRS connection" is enabled until I close the J2ME application!!

    In the image you can see a menu, independent of the Images Form, and you can see the GPRS icon, Why???

    You can try doing a capture on the server side to effectively check that the Midlet is not sending any more data. If you see that the connection is closed on the server, it may be a bug in the device.

    Re: Problems closing a GPRS connection

    hi,

    open your Applications>Connections (or similiar)>Connection manager and see if midlet connection is actually operative or not (that's feature on S60 platform), you can test active/inactive mode, current upload/download rate, etc, "G" is not exactly always the same as "data exchange",
    not sure how nokia implemented that but MIDP 2.0 simply state that it should notify user that internet connection session was initiated (even in full screen),

    some MIPD applications (GMaps (writing from memory) for example) has additonal "Http data exchange" custom icon to give user better idea when data is exchanged via HttpConnection reqests (it works like rotating globe icon in IExplore),

    hth,
    regards,
    Peter
