    Removing default exit button

    Hi all,

I am running my j2me applications in Nokia 6600. But in every page there is a default exit button in serted by the system. So I can not write code for my exit button. I don't want default exit button. Instead I want to add my own exit button.

Please tell me how to remove that default exit button.

    Thanks

I doubt you can remove it. But have you tried putting your "exit code" in "destroyApp" ? I think destroyApp it's called before the app exits even with the default exit button.

If you dont want the exit button then draw fullscreen on a canvas, you could then add ur own softkey labels. I think any other displayable will have the exit button.

you cant remove the exit button and yeah u need to write ur code in destroy application it is called when application exits. so actually u dont need to put ur own exit command just use the one already there.

    Re: Removing default exit button

    Hi,

    Thanks to all.
I think I'll have to try canvas. But I have so many buttons in at least 6 forms. Let me see.

I know destroyApp() will be called with the default button also. But my problem is I want to give the user some options before exiting. That I think I can not do with the default button.

Can anybody tell me whether there will be default button in Nokia 6021 also?

    Thanks once again guys.

Why not create your own menu system using a canvas? You can give the user some options when destroyApp is called by having code before notifyDestroyed() is called.

    Re: Removing default exit button

jmdeveloper, if you are talking about soft key commands, 6600 and other older S60 devices have this behavior. This functionality was later changed (I guess it was S60 2nd Edition FP2 or something along those lines). Series 40 devices do not have a default Close/Exit command

There is a known isse document on this
    http://www.forum.nokia.com/Technical...Nokia_6600.htm

However this needs to be updated to mirror the current situation.

Quick update on the knon issue doc pointed by me above. The Exit/Close commands added by the platform were dropped in S60 2nd Edition FP3.
