Possible carbide bug: Suspended: Signal 'Exception 5' received. Description: Access Violation.

    Carbide version used:
    Carbide.c++
    Version: 1.1
    Build id: 47

    SDK used:
    S60_2nd_FP3/ Symbian 8.1a

The guiengine example (\Symbian\8.1a\S60_2nd_FP3\Series60Ex\guiengine) can be used to demonstrate a bug in carbide. If you build this example using carbide (in order to successfully compile, you will need to specify a .def file in the shapelistmanager.mmp) it will panic when started from the emulator. If you start a debugging session with carbide the following exception occurs:

Thread [Thread id: 8056] (Suspended: Signal 'Exception 5' received. Description: Access Violation.)
    1 0x1B480003( ShapeListManager.dll )() 0x1b480003

If you clean and rebuild the project using the command line winscw compliler (I believe this is the code warrior compiler) the application will start successfully from the emulator.

The binary files produced by carbide are different to those that are produced on the command line. I can provide the compiled binary files and modified mmp file if requested to do so.

    Please help Carbide Team!

    Thanks,

    Alex

This problem does not affect Carbide.c++ Express Version: 1.0

    Hello fellow developers,

Is there a patch for this bug.

Carbide (dev) is more of a hassle than it's worth. I hate the idea of going back to Visual Studio .NEt 2003 but I seem to be using to commandline more now than ever before.

Providing a .DEF file just to debug is painful!

    Ciao,

    S60N

    Ps: Needed to vent
Pps: Really build with commandline tools for now ... saves alot of time and trouble
