Input line is too long Error 255

    Hi
I encountered this error while building ARMI Release for S60 2nd edition with Carbide.
I tried this solution , but the error still appears:

** Any ideas how to solve this?

** If there is no workaround , what exactly should I change in my app? (dir names , what?)

    Thank you very much

Are you sure that the substed drive is getting used? You may need to go into your Program Files\Common Files\Symbian\devices.xml file and change the epocroot path there for your SDK.

And if the line is still too long you will need to shorten your folder names. Believe me, we're aware of the problem and are working on it.

The problem should be solved in version 1.2, but is unfortunately still present in 1.1.

The path length that is allowed is not constant; it depends on lots of things. I'm not surprised that it occurs with some projects and not with others.

    Hi ,
Thanks for your reply, I would like to know

    Why we face this problem.

    1) Long build path

    0r

    2) Number of files more

Is there any workaround ? I am still suck with this problem.

Re: Input line is too long Error 255

The problem occurs due to a limitation in the Carbide v1.1 build system. The environment space is filling up. Carbide v1.2 has an updated build system so this will not be a problem. Version 1.2 should be available fairly soon.

I hope Nokia understands, how important to solve this issue. It is main stopper, what keeps from any serious development on Carbide.C++. It force to use Carbide only as 'example builder', any projects with > 20-30 classes are doomed.

Re: Input line is too long Error 255

    Hi ,
I could solve this problem by copying all the files to root . so that path length is basically zero , But i belive this should be work around. nokia has to fix this isues ASAP.
