    If you are using 3rd edition then yes, you need to have your application signed and if you are talking about editions below 3rd, there is no need to sign your application, it will do.

    Signed application ensures user that the application is a trusted application.

    There is lots of discussions on this topic, just search for it.

    Re: Signing & Certification doubt

    Hi,
    I am using S60 2.1 edition SDK and Carbide.VS with MS VS 2003 IDE. Can I have searched in SDK help to build .sis file. In that it is mentioned to use sisar. But while using sisar the generate sisar button is not activating. This is the way I hve done by job.

    1. Build the project in MS VS 2003 IDE.
    2. Start \ S60 c++ SDK\S60 SDK for metawerk code warrier for Symbian OS\
    tools\sisar.
    3. Taken new project.
    4. import .pkg file of my application
    5. selected the project directory in configuration tab.

    If anybody can help me, thanks in advance.

    Re: Signing & Certification doubt

    Try this to sign your application:

    signsis -s MyApplication.sis MyApplication_signed.sis myCertificate.cer myCertificate.key password

    password is the one you entered during the creation of the .csr file with
    the "Developer Certificate Request" tool
