    Unhappy Request | SDKs >> Alternative download site

    Hello fellow developers,

    Re: Request (yes I could add Urgent but I won't)

    I've beeing trying for the last 3 days to download the following SDKs for Carbide C++;

    S60 2nd Edition, FP2 (http://sw.nokia.com/id/c7cdcde5-af46...nd_fp2_sdk.zip)

    S60 2nd Edition, FP1 (http://sw.nokia.com/id/b532c5e4-fcb3...DK_v21c_CW.zip)

    Can someone please offer an alternative download site? I get nothing but Server Errors and 504 (Gateway) Errors when trying to download those packs directly from Nokia. I see (via Wget in Linux) that they are bounching the links around internally.

    I've almost depleted my (crappy) broadband limit and would like to download the packs before I go over my limit (New Zealand broadband sux).

    I will be indebted to anyone who can provide an alternative download site that supports "resume" (Nokia doesn't hence chewing up my bandwidth allowance).

    I hope someone can help. Thanks.

    S60N

    PS: Nokia; 3rd Edition downloads fine. How about geting the others working just as well?

    Re: Request | SDKs >> Alternative download site

    I'd like to add my concerns about the unavailability of the v2 FP1 and v2 FP2 SDK archives from the Nokia site

    It's been two days until now trying to download these files and I always got internal server errors (tried from three different ISPs in Italy)

    Several other big repositories (namely Ubuntu linux, Sourceforge, and many others) provide many different mirror sites to download from or (better) bit torrent links.

    I really need these files for my work, and I'm not able to find them in other places

    please solve this problem

    Hello again fellow developers,

    Firstly, thanks for the additional note Glauco. I was just about to sign onto another ISP (at extra cost) but I see from your experience it would be pointless.

    Nokia here is a snippet of the interesting setup you have for requesting S60 2nd Edition, FP1;

    =====

    HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 504 Gateway Time-out
    13:03:49 ERROR 504: Gateway Time-out.

    =====

    I have tried using the Nokia download manager and directly via the Web Browser and Wget. Sometimes I get as much as 99% of the file, other times as little as 2%. If at a minimum you add "resume" to the servers that would be better than attempting to download 150MB over and over again.

    As with Glauco, I wouldn't be posting anything like this if I wasn't in need of the SDKs.

    Cheers,

    S60N

    Red face Re: Request | SDKs >> Alternative download site

    Hello again,

    Just had a thought considering ... there are a few people reading this thread.

    If you have the files "local", please consider setting up a bittorrent or even sending it via Skype or some other related peer to peer technology.

    I am also after Carbide.j (and related SDKs) which is performing as well as the Symbian C++ SDKs in regards to downloading :(

    Cheers,

    S60N

    PS: yes getting desperate now

    Hello fellow developers,

    Alas, nothing has changed over night for day 4 of "Please can I have the SDK?". In fact things are even worst;

    The little web gremlins at Nokia have decided that since the downloads are not working then no one is going to have them! I'm feeling rather "postal" now :(

    I feel for you Andycris! (just read your thread)

    My god, how bloody stupid can you get Forum Nokia. You realize that there are people out there who are losing money and not developing applications for your stupid phones RIGHT NOW????

    Now they have completely removed the download links. They are gone.

    All you need to do is provide a simple download link, with a file, and a permanent URL. It's REALLY EASY.

    But Forum Nokia can't do it. And they won't post about it here. And so they're losing business for Nokia. Idiots.

    (and yes I know many nice Nokia people but this is ridiculous)

    Smile Re: Request | SDKs >> Alternative download site

    Hello fellow Symbian developers,

    I have finally successfully downloaded the SDk's mentioned in my first post and Carbide.J 1.5 (and related Series 60 SDK's).

    If anyone encounters any further problems let me know, I'm more than happy to set up a FTP server if the Nokia site goes nutty again.

    Cheers,

    S60N

    PS: Hi Simon, totally agree.

    If I don't finish my project in time I have to fork over big money to the company I am contracting too :(

    Hope Semacode is going well (I have got the right Simon B Woodside haven't I???)

    Come on Nokia, get it sorted!!!!!!!!!!

    these are still down today. The links are back but not working.

    I dread to think how many potential developers are giving up due to something so simple.

    Are there no moderators on this forum to highlight these issues?

    Re: Request | SDKs >> Alternative download site

    And another day ticks by .... "Not Found."

    Did Forum Nokia just lay off all their staff? Are they all on holiday? Are they at war with some other part of the company? The lawyers? Symbian? Didn't pay their bandwidth bill? What's going on?

    (yes the same simon)

    Question Re: Request | SDKs >> Alternative download site

    Dang, I must have had a lucky break yesterday.

    Hi Cysioo. I have S60-SDK-0616-3.0-mr.3.749.zip but not S60-SDK-0548-3.0-f.3.215f.zip. But I do have Carbide.VS 2.0.1.

    Let me know if that SDK and/or Carbide.VS version would suit your needs. And let me know how you want it transferred (FTP, Skype, BitTorrent [would only be a temp torrent], et cetera).

    Cheers,

    S60N

    PS: Apparently Nokia will not support a FTP download site even though that would be the easiest and simplest thing to do. Nokia, can you say "SFtp"?

    The downloads seem to be back on-line, at least for the moment, let's hope they stay on for a little longer this time..

    What a sordid affair.

    The downloads went down on the 18th. Not back up until the 23rd. SIX DAYS DOWN.

    I need to port my work to Series 60 Feature pack 3 (s60_2nd_sdk_fp3.zip) now. And yes, download link does not work (404 error).

    If anyone ... anyone can offer Series 60 Feature Pack 3 please let me know.

    Thank you all,
