    Changing the application name

    Does someone know an easy way to change the name of an entire application (not just the folder-name or title in Carbide!!). The change must be "consistent".

    Re: Changing the application name

    Hmm, in the "TestApp.rss" I've a line called:
    RESOURCE TBUF { buf = "TestApp"; }

    and in "TestApp_reg.rss" I've:
    app_file="TestApp";

    Do I have to change now the application name there in the file?? Or do you mean to change the name of the files itself?

    No. You don't need to change them.
    Just open your .Loc file and Serach for your old name. Replace it.
    Moreover change the name in the .pkg file as well.

    Re: Changing the application name

    That works perfect! Thank you very much! And then do I also have to change the UID(s) of the app?

    No. As far as i have dealt with, no need to change UIDs in this case.

    Re: Changing the application name

    Hi!

    To change the name of my application, I changed all the above mentioned parameters. Everything worked fine. Then, in the TaskManager I've seen that there is I file still called MyOLDAppName.rsc running on the phone... o.k. "No problem" I thought and replaced all MyOLDAppName.* with MyNEWAppName.* in the PKG-file:

    "$(EPOCROOT)\Epoc32\release\$(PLATFORM)\$(TARGET)\MyNEWAppName.exe" -"!:\sys\bin\MyNEWAppName.exe"
    "$(EPOCROOT)\Epoc32\data\Z\Resource\apps\MyNEWAppName.rsc" -"!:\resource\apps\MyNEWAppName.rsc"
    "$(EPOCROOT)\Epoc32\data\Z\private\10003a3f\apps\MyNEWAppName_reg.rsc" -"!:\private\10003a3f\import\apps\MyNEWAppName_reg.rsc"
    "$(EPOCROOT)\Epoc32\data\z\resource\apps\MyNEWAppName.mif" -"!:\resource\apps\MyNEWAppName.mif"

    But then... I can't run the application anymore and in the phone's program folder the icon of the installed application (MyNEWAppName) has the old name (MyOLDAppName)!!!

    Can someone help me to change ALL file names of the application, please?

    Then create one Fresh new project with desired name.
    Add your old project's functionalities into newly created project.
    It will do the job.

    I'm sure it happened to me as well, at least once. Must be a bug in sorting or something like that ...
