    Unhappy ActionScript to call Java

    I've been writing a multi-player mobile game using Flash's ActionScript.
    Test-runs locally on single mobiles went well (Flash Lite Player 2.1).
    But for the networking, ActionScript doesn't support Bluetooth (Free Wireless).
    I know Java does - there's J2ME Bluetooth API (JSR-82) for Java.
    There're quite a number of docs & examples concerning J2ME Bluetooth alone.
    But I found it hard to get precise infos on integrating both ActionScript & Java;
    Or more precisely, ActionScript's fscommand() to call J2ME Bluetooth midlet(s).
    There're practically a few parameters to be transferred, both in & out;
    But I suppose them to be as realtime as possible.

    (I'm rather new to Java - just learning ...)

    Any Hints, Links, Codes or Suggestions are highly appreciated.

    Re: ActionScript to call Java

    tamsc, launching MIDlets from ActionScript is not possible. Unfortunately.

    Hartti, thanks for your reply.
    But will there be any workaround ...
    Or else, I've to rewrite all in J2ME ...

    Re: ActionScript to call Java

    hi tamsc,
    fscommand executes (aka invoke) external resource and cannot launch midlets (you don't know locations of midlets),
    the only solution you can think about investigatin is using XMLSocket (new in FL2.1, am I correct?) and C++/Java application that runs socket as server and that way provide communication between both apps,
    similiar on flashlite user group:

    Hi peterblazejewicz,

    Thanks for your kind advice. I've already been studying XMLSocket in FlashLite 2.1 (Ref - http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/F...e&var=1&tidx=1). But still it's the hard part to "write" mobile XML socket server with bluetooth capability (J2ME, I supposed). There're little examples ...

    Flash Lite does not have Bluetooth capabilities. What Peter meant is using the multiuser option with XMLSockets, similar to how it works with Flash on the desktop.

    Thus you have a backend server performing your commands and showing the responses to the mobile on the front end.
