    creating s60 2nd edition application launcher

    Hi
    I have created a simple app for 3rd edition that starts another exe then closes.

    I am now trying to port that back to work on a 6680, i am using carbide.c++ express and have installed the s60_2nd_fp2_cw sdk and am using the s60 2.x Hello World GUI application project wizard.

    The standard project creates the sis ok and it works on the phone, but when i try adding my code, the app does nothing!?

    i am using this code...
    Code:
    RProcess proc;
    proc.Create(KMyExe, KNullDesC);
    proc.Resume();
    proc.Close();
    this works fine on the 3rd edition and according to these forums should work on the 2nd edition too.

    where should i be putting this code? on the 3rd edition i have it in ConstructL

    thanks for any help.

    Re: creating s60 2nd edition application launcher

    Ok, i'm really fed up now!!!

    I've tried adding this code anywhere and everywhere, every time i run the app on the device it opens briefly (for about a 1/2 second) and then returns to the menu!

    the original code has...
    Code:
        iToDoLabel->SetTextL( _L"Add Your controls\n here") );
    but you cant put anything there! it just doesn't do anything!!

    Has anyone actually managed to modify a hello world example for s60 2nd fp2 using carbide express???

    am i missing something? i managed to create a really complicated app for 3rd edition from having no knowledge of c++ within a few weeks, but with the 2nd edition (which is apparently easier) i cant even get it to do anything!

    Please, Please someone tell me what i'm doing wrong, i can't afford to buy any More asprin!!!

    sorry, I don't undestand fully what your problem is. Are you not able to run the helloworld at all with 2nd ed. SDK? Or is the problem with the RProcess? That you are not able to show the helloworld with proc.Resume()? If you're not able to run helloworld at all, have you tried putting an empty file named 'errrd' into epoc32\winscw\c\system\bootdata. This will give you an error code when you try to run the helloworld. Search for errrd in this forum for more data.
