Signing Midlet with Thawte trial certificate

    Hi,
I developed a Midlet application which uses socket to connect to a server.
I'm testing on a Nokia 6103 40 series and I get IOException while trying to connect to the server.(socket://mydomain:myport)
As I understand, this means there's a Security Exception because I can't certified the midlet and the application is not allowed no use network resources. I mean I was not able to install the thawte root certify required to test the application.
Does any body know how cana I install this certification on my phone up to test the Midlet's trial digital signature?

    thanks

Re: Signing Midlet with Thawte trial certificate

    Hi,
the thawte root certificate has to be installed previously on your phone. and you have to sign the application by a certificate bought from Thawte.
The installation of root certificate by user is allowed only due to a bug for some s60 2nd edition devices. In general you cannot install a root certificate.

Cannot you set the security permission to "ask every time" ?

    regards

Is the 6103 an operator-branded phone? If it is a T-Mobile US phone then you would not get the network connections to work even if you signed with thawte. (Yes, the corresponding root certificate has to be on the phone for the signing to work, and you cannot install the certificates yourself)

If I remember correctly the way to see the certificates on 6103 is to open the Web browser and look the security settings from there.

    thank you for your reply.
But I still get the same error:
The error is "there is no certificate on the phone" signing the app.
If I don't sign the appp, I get IOException ( which means Security exception, MIDlet is not allowed to use networking resources).
1)I would like to know if the MIDlet can get permission to use networking resources without signing the app.
2)how can I use the trial certificate up to test my app?!

    I don't like this issue!
