Memory Full Error While running an application for a quite long time in Nokia 6600

I developed a Stock Exchange Application for Mobile in J2ME .I developed a grid which shows rates and a stock exchange index ticker plus a news ticker. It runs in almost all the phones perfectly but when I run my application on Nokia 6600(with 256 MB MMC card) then after running for a while my phone gives an error which shows "Memory Full" and then all functioning of my Application stops that is the thread for sending Stock Feed Request is stopped automatically.
If anyone could suggest a idea abt this kind of problem?
    Thnx in Advance

Hi najeebdanish! Welcome to Nokia Discussion Boards!!

Please give a try with optimising your code. Juarez has already posted some memory related tips here.

In Java you could find the total memory of a device with "Runtime.getRuntime().totalMemory()" and Free memory with "Runtime.getRuntime().freeMemory()"

Try to find out the Free memory and the Total Memory on your 6600 and find out at which point of time does this memory leak occours.

What is the firmware version of your 6600?

Also go through "Known issues in the Nokia 6600 MIDP 2.0 implementation" section in http://www.forum.nokia.com/document/...al_library.htm

Yeah, the 6600 was among the first (if not the first) Nokia phone to support MIDP 2.0. So there were lots of problems with a buggy Java implementation, especially with the first public firmware versions. For example, at first signed MIDlets did not work -- even though signing is part of the MIDP 2.0 security model. This was fixed later.

So that's why Nokia has compiled all the known issues of the 6600 to a separate document; there are so many of them.

Check out what firmware version you have and compare it to the list of publicly known firmware versions at http://hunajatehdas.net/nokia/firmwa...php?model=6600. If your version is really old, consider getting it updated at your Nokia service point.
