How to store large data amounts in flash card

    Hello,

I want to store large data amounts on the flash card of the phone. As I have seen it is possible using the FileConnection API (JSR-75). But unfortunatelly my mobile does't support it.

Is anybody aware of a method to store large amounts of data (I mean in the order of GB's) to the device's flash card?

without the fileconnection api, you can't write (or read, or do whatever) to the filesystem, including the flash card.

Which phone are you using? If its a Symbian phone, you can try with Symbian C++.
As njzk2 said, there is no way from a Java app to write large volume of data to the FileSystem, if the device does not support FileConnection.

Re: How to store large data amounts in flash card

I use Nokia 6600 (Symbian 7.0). As I know it is possible to have a native c++ server and call it from a j2me client. But I am interested in a monolithic solution (if possible).

Another alternative for java is the rms package, but I am not sure about the maximum data it can hold.

Its not possible to store huge amount of data in RMS. And I dont find a way in 6600 to store large files from a Java app.

Do you know the order of data size the RMS can store?
