Description

Trying to use CSendUi::CreateAndSendMessageL() to create and send an SMS with the 'To:' field filled in with a phone number works as expected. However, using a name instead of a phone number returns the error message 'Invalid Recipient Information' even if the name exists in the address book and has a phone number assigned to it.

Solution

SendUi does not provide a feature for automatic lookup of phone numbers or other contact information.

If the name of the receiver is known when launching the SMS editor, then it is possible to use the Contacts API to search for the phone number(s) assigned to the contact.
