We do not recommend Flash Lite development on current Nokia devices, and all Flash Lite articles on this wiki have been archived. Flash Lite has been removed from all Nokia Asha and recent Series 40 devices and has limited support on Symbian. Specific information for Nokia Belle is available in Flash Lite on Nokia Browser for Symbian. Specific information for OLD Series 40 and Symbian devices is available in the Flash Lite Developers Library.

This code snippet demonstrates how to use the Contact Service API in a Flash Lite 3.0 application to delete the first contact of the default phonebook.

// Import Platform Service Interface
// Heading of the application
heading_txt.text = "Delete Contact (first of the list)";
// Create a new Service object which has Contact data
var contact = new Service("Service.Contact", "IDataSource");
// Define the input parameters for the contact list
var inParams = {Type:"Contact"};
// Define the result value of the list
var outParams = contact.GetList(inParams);
if (outParams.ErrorCode == 0) {
var outList = outParams.ReturnValue;
var outputEntry = null;
var idList:Array = new Array();
var nameList:Array = new Array();
do {
outputEntry =;
if (null != outputEntry) {
// Get the lists of IDs and firstname to Arrays
} else {
} while (true);
} else {
// if errors trace them to the textfield
var errorId = outParams.ErrorCode;
text_txt.text += "Error while listing: "+errorId+"\r";
// Define a list of the IDs which will be deleted
// NOTE! Running this aplication will delete the first contact on your contact
// list
var idDeleteList = [idList[0]];
var contactId = {IdList:idDeleteList};
text_txt.text += "Delete contact, "+nameList[0]+"\r";
// Define input parameters for the deletion
var inDeleteParams = {Type:"Contact", Data:contactId};
// Define result data of the deletion
var outDeleteParams = contact.Delete(inDeleteParams);
if (outDeleteParams.ErrorCode == 0) {
text_txt.text += "Deletion success"+"\r";
} else {
var errorId2 = outParams.ErrorCode;
text_txt.text += "Error while deleting: "+errorId2;

Note: Running this application will delete the first contact on your contact list.

The first contact information is deleted from the default phonebook of the device.

Note! In this code snippet the first entry is automatically deleted without user intervention once the application is started.

Example application

The following sample application has been tested in Nokia 5800 XpressMusic (S60 5th edition, Flash Lite 3.0).
