This article describes how to use globalui, a module available starting from PySymbian 1.4.4. The elements are similar to the ones in appuifw, but are displayed even if the application is running in the background.

import globalui
globalui.global_note(u"This is a global note")
#Displays a note
globalui.global_query(u"Continue to next level?")
#Displays an OK/Cancel query
globalui.global_popup_menu([u"Object1",u"Object2"],u"Please make a choice")
#Displays a popup menu
globalui.global_msg_query(u"Do you agree with the terms?",u"About the application")
#Displays an OK/Cancel query, but with a new look
