RVCT for Symbian is no longer available for download from It may be available through direct request to ARM (unverified).

  1. Point your browser at
  2. Register (if you aren't already registered) and confirm registration by clicking the link in the email they send you.
  3. Log in.
  4. Select the "RVCT 4.0 for Symbian" download
  5. Accept the license terms (note that this is restricted to individuals or companies of 20 employees or less, if you don't meet this criteria you'll have to purchase a license)
  6. Enter a hardware ID for your node-locked license (I recommend switching from disk ID to Ethernet and then open a command prompt and type "ipconfig /all" - look through the list for "Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection" and enter the hexadecimal number next to "Physical Address" removing the dashes between the pairs of digits).
  7. Click the link to save the license file and remember where it is saved (or put it somewhere you'll easily find it).
  8. Hopefully your download will have completed by now... extract the zip file to a temporary location and run the "setup" application inside it.
  9. Change the installation path to C:\Symbian\ARM (it must not have any spaces in the path, the default location does) and accept all other steps of the install.
  10. Towards the end of the installation, the ARM License Wizard should start. Click next, then choose "Install license" and click next again twice.
  11. Click the button with the ellipsis (...) and find the license.dat file you saved in step (7) - select this and then click the "Add" button next to the ellipsis. Say "Yes" to the two pop-up dialogs that follow. Now click next and then finish to exit the license wizard.
  12. The installation should now complete and you can then click next and finish to exit the installation wizard.
