Symptoms

  • There can be additional lines of text on the display (five lines in Series 40 1st Ed).
  • Input field is rendered like a box (brackets in Series 40 1st Ed).
  • Text and images can be on the same line (not possible in Series 40 1st Ed).
  • Text and input fields can be on the same line (not possible in Series 40 1st Ed).
  • PNG image format is supported (not supported in Series 40 1st Ed).
  • Emphasis elements (B, I, U, small, big, em) are supported in the Nokia 6220 (not supported in Series 40 1st Ed).
  • Image is scaled; image viewer is missing in the Nokia 6220 (image can be scrolled vertically and horizontally in Series 40 1st Ed).

Description

Series 40 1st Edition contains WAP 1.2.1 browser, which supports WML 1.x content. Some devices that are compliant with the 1st Edition Platform ship with a dual-mode browser, which supports also XHTML Mobile Profile content (and WML 1.x as backwards compatibility). There are differences in how some WML elements are rendered in the browser and how the browser behaves.

How to reproduce

Open a WML page that has text element and image element and text element and input field on the same line.  Open a WML page that contains a PNG image. Open a WML page with more than six lines of text (Nokia 3300). Open a WML page with more than seven lines of text with some text emphasis elements (Nokia 6220).
