Overview

This is the first basic program in PySymbian. PySymbian is a very easy to learn language and one can develop mobile applications very rapidly using PySymbian.

Preconditions

1. Download the S60 SDK from Nokia Developer SDK section.

2. Download Latest Python SDK from maemo Garage.

3. Install PySymbian by following this article.

Code snippet

The code below shows how to write a simple hello world application in PySymbian.

import appuifw
import e32
 
def quit(): # define the quit function
app_lock.signal()
 
 
appuifw.app.title = u"Hello World" #set the application title
 
appuifw.note(u"Hello World", 'info') #displays a hello world dialog
 
app_lock = e32.Ao_lock()
appuifw.app.exit_key_handler = quit
app_lock.wait()
