SymbianFreeType is an open source project aims at providing the famous FreeType project's functionality of font rendering technologies into Symbian OS. It acts as a bridge between the FreeType library function calls and the native Symbian OS C++ API. Currently third party application developers could use this project as an DLL component for their GUI applications providing sophisticated font exhibition.

As of Dec. 2007, the project is still in very early stage. The performance is a big problem for the project. Mainly because of the lack of hardware floating point operation support, the rendering speed is very slow.

The kcomex is inviting and welcome all talented developers to contribute this project, making an elegance font solutions on Symbian OS platform.
