Retrieving manufacturer name, device model number, and serial number (IMEI)

Retrieving the model information and the unique identification of the mobile device is possible without any capabilities using the CTelephony::GetPhoneId function.
The example code below highlights how the IMEI code can be retrieved inside an active object.
TRequestStatus iStatus;
CTelephony::TPhoneIdV1 iPhoneId;
CTelephony telephony = CTelephony::NewL();
CTelephony::TPhoneIdV1Pckg phoneInfo( iPhoneId );
telephony->GetPhoneId( iStatus, phoneInfo );
// In your RunL function...
TPtrC imeiCode( iPhoneId.iSerialNumber );
See the CTelephony class documentation for the capability requirements of other functions of that class.
S60 3rd Edition MR SDK and S60 3rd Edition, FP1 SDK include a useful example for investigating the functionality of the 3rd Party ETEL Telephony API. (S60Ex\IsvTelInfoApp).
