Talk:How to convert XML to Class object in Windows phone 8
Hamishwillee - What value does this add?
Thanks for contributing!
As a rule we try to have only one "canonical" article on a topic - so before adding new content it is worth checking whether there is anything like it already. If there is then we see if we can update it or have some new "angle" which makes the article worth creating as stand alone. In this case I see lots of other very similar articles that cover the same material (and in some cases better) - for example see Parse Local XML file in Windows Phone, Deserialize the XML response to a Data class and other topics in Category:XML on Windows Phone. There are good reasons for this - for a start, if we have 10 articles on a topic it becomes hard to maintain them when a new version of the platform shows up.
Can you please outline what value this adds over the alternatives?
Aside from that I've moved it into the correct category and changed the code markup to use "csharp" where appropriate rather than xml. In terms of the instructions they look "OK" but are a bit of a code dump. I'd hope for more explanation rather than just saying "this is what my example is".
What would be good to do is to link to one of the above topics from Windows Phone 8 Scrollable List with Image from stream and Search functionality for more information and detail. Again, not much point duplicating stuff that is already covered.
Leaving in Draft until we've had a chance to discuss.
