Talk:How to pin the application tile to the start screen from code
Max Meng -Sorry for my English, so, literally, we cannot add the default tile to the Start page using our code, is that correct?

Hamishwillee - Max - yes
Yes, there is no API support for a developer to add the "real" application tile to the Start page in code - this must be done by the user. What this article shows is how to create a secondary tile that looks just like the application tile.

SaBer - Misleading
The "special trick" here doesn't work. The main tile always has a NavigationUri of "/" and is always part of the ActiveTiles collection. You can not detect whether or not it is pinned, you can only determine if you have pinned the pseudo main tile or not.
Eric Fleck from Microsft agrees with me:http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsapps/en-us/f9c5f705-fde9-4935-8376-ba27cf06a307/how-to-determine-if-theres-a-pinned-tile?forum=wpdevelop#8c42cb63-aa1e-4924-86ab-56c943aee9e4
