Hamishwillee - A few comments
I've responded to your specific comments in line. This needs a further subedit and perhaps a little simplification - I'll help you with that after we've clarified a few things. Some comments and notes above.
- Remember when linking to wiki to use internal link format with double brackets and a pipe
- A custom effect is an effect implemented by deriving from CustomEffectBase or ICustomEffect to directly manipulate the pixels in the source image in code. The other type of filter I just called a "filter recipe" - made by combining inbuilt FilterEffects. I would use the Filter Recipe name above to clearly separate the two types.
- The prizing is not very compelling compared to previous competitions - the charger is about 50AUD and the camera grip about 90AUD. Compare to Lumia 1020s and the other devices we've had in our last competitions. That may be fine because you're doing this as a challenge, but the effort to create a new filter - even a recipe - can be significant. I would try to have at least one much better prize for overall winner.
- What is the competition called? The implication from above is "Nokia Custom Effect Wiki Challenge 2014Q2". As per previous point a custom effect is not a filter recipe, so you might want to consider "Nokia Original Imaging Effect Wiki Challenge 2014Q2" or "Nokia Custom or Recipe Effect Wiki Challenge 2014Q2"

Croozeus - Comments
Agree with Hamish's points on rewards - we have had a good number (and quality) of articles in the past competitions because the prizes were compelling! I am not sure if there's a device launch at Build event, if there is it could be a good prize to motivate participants.
Regarding the name of the competition - I feel we shouldn't make it too long.
As for the participants, I think this is a good contest to bring in new contributors (in addition to the regular imaging participants). So I like the idea of giving links to already existing articles and techniques for creating recipes.
Would be great to see some images on this page.. perhaps showing the prizes or some custom effects.
That's all from my side!Pankaj

Hamishwillee - Further subedit
OK, I've given it a provisional title. Yes, I know "Cool" isn't great, but this is just to give us an idea of what it would look like with title bar as well.
I've also subedited to make it more readable and to clarify the prizing and the difference between filter recipes and custom recipes. I removed my inline comments as these have been discussed offline and I've addressed them.
I agree with Pankaj re an image. I also think that the title needs to be reconsidered. I'm a BIG fan of having a "stuck for ideas" section. YOu could start here with other Instagram filters that aren't covered yet. I'm sure Engin would have some ideas on other more complicated filters too.

Croozeus - Re: Updating the prizing
The prizing (for externals) looks much better (latest released Lumia phone), however it can be highlighted more. For example, mentioning the Lumia 630 prizing before the DVLUP points.
Also, is this the dual sim Lumia 630 or the single sim version? The dual sim version would be more aspirational than the single sim version so we should mention this explicitly.
Also, not everyone knows about DVLUP and may not care to check out the fine details of what can be redeemed by that many DVLUP points. So how about a link to the page that lists the goodies that can be redeemed?
For internal entries, I think the prizing may not be good enough. Anyone can buy a portable charger (which are not that expensive) and get a good employee discount, so I feel it's not something that would drive internal entries.
Now that things are different, something that could be clarify more would be 'who is a Nokia employee' or do we mean 'Microsoft internal employees'?Pankaj

BuildNokia - RE Croozeus
Microsoft Legal has told me that employees are not eligible to compete, so I have removed related wording and prizes. So that solves that. The wording on the contest now specifically says that it is being sponsored by Microsoft Mobile Oy, which is the legal entity of the portion of Nokia that Microsoft bought; therefore "internal" would apply to employees of that entity, the way I read it.
As for prizing, at this point I think I'm going to leave the description as-is rather than throw a wrench in the legal discussions I have going on right now. We specifically have not specified single- or dual- SIM because it will depend on which country the participant is in. In some countries, dual SIM isn't as important as others. (For example, India it's a must, but in the US it doesn't really matter, as far as I understand it.)Jen
