Idlelimey - IE10 Desktop Mode

It should be noted that the user agent will not return much of the device specific information if desktop mode is enabled. The UA when a Windows Phone 8 (IE10) handset is in desktop mode is:

Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 10.0; Windows NT 6.2; Trident/6.0; ARM; Touch; WPDesktop)

This makes detecting WP8 possible, but not any device information such as handset model. This is similar to the UA behaviour when using desktop mode on a WP7.x handset.

Hamishwillee - Thanks Idlelimey

I've added the note above. FYI, this is a wiki, so if you think the change makes sense you can add it yourself.

Hamishwillee - - ask on the forums

If you ask here, you only get visibility from the small number of people watching the article. Also, you really should only ask question that are relevant to the specific article - e.g. suggestions for improvement.

The best place to ask these questions is on the discussion boards. If you have an article that is closely related to the question you might also link to that from the discussion boards post.
