Hamishwillee - Subedit for wiki style

Hi Vinay

Thanks very much for your entry. I have given it a subedit for wiki style - basically a few more "icodes", removed un-needed capitalisation (e.g. "Speech", "Voice" etc), improved indentation on code blocks.

I've asked the moderators to check it out too and offer advice on further improvements.

Croozeus -

Hi Vinay,

This is cool. I was able to build and run it successfully on my phone.

Some comments and suggestions below.

  • I think you should add one or two lines in the introduction about what this app does. You have a meaningful abstract, perhaps you can explain more to get other developers interested to try out this example. Also, may be good idea to explain the naming 'VoiceMaging' :)
  • I like that you've also given the touch panel for some functions. However, applying filters is only by voice.. would be great if you can have touch options for this. It's not necessary to have this but it may happen that developers may not understand how to use the voice tags. Alternatively, what I think could be great is showing a dialog on app launch - with a line or two of instructions and the some voice tags that can be recognized.
  • I noticed that the example isn't visually compatible with the 'light' theme. The MainPage just shows up as a blank screen. There's a white + icon in the center but that's hard to guess. I would suggest having a hard-coded black background on the MainPage so that it's visually usable on any theme that the user has selected. Can you please update this?
  • Would be also good to have a Summary section at the end of the article - saying what the article covered and pointers to further reading / advanced articles using the imaging / voice APIs.

That's it for now.

I will do that.

Since this wiki focus on editing images by voice i guess adding touch options with defy that. I can instead add a help option to show what all filters can be applied. Seems good??

Thanks for pointing this out. Forgot to verify UI against different themes.

Indeed a nice suggestion. I will do that.

Thanks for your suggestions and time.

Yes, that would work.

Great, thanks.. I'll try out your changes once you update the article and the example.

Croozeus - Great, thanks for the changes

Hi Vinay,

Thanks for incorporating the changes and updating the example.

I tried the example, the help menu/ page would be useful. Oh yes, and it works fine on both color themes now :-)

Looking forward to see more articles from you!

Thanks

Pankaj

Hamishwillee - Update to latest imaging SDK?

Hi Vinay

According to the metadata for the article this is compatible with "Nokia Imaging SDK Beta 1" - can you update it to Nokia Imaging SDK 1.0? That would make it a lot more useful going forward!

Regards

Hamish
