This snippet shows how to use text to speech in Python.

This method is available from S60 2nd Edition FP3 (inclusive).

The parameter passed to the say() function should be either Unicode or a UTF-8 encoded plain string.

The speech synthesizer pronounces the text according to the current device language.

Source code

import audio
audio.say("This is an example of text to speech")

The text is converted to speech and played aloud by the device.

  • This method does not work on the emulator.
  • Numbers are read digit by digit.
