Winners announced for S60 5th Edition Contribution Contests December 11th, 2008


Nokia Developer and the Wiki Administration thank all those that participated in the Nokia Developer Wiki contest for S60 5th Ed. Four winners were awarded an N96 multimedia device for their contributions to the Nokia Developer's Community. The winners in alphabetical order by usernames are:


An honorable mention goes to croozeus and jappit who contributed with excellent articles on the S60 5th Edition User Interface.
Previously an N96 was awarded to summeli . Antti took a unique look at what the new UI can do in his article Simulating joystick with touch ui.


Mfabiop awarded Nokia N96 as Contributor of the Month December 9th, 2008

Nokia Developer honors one member every month for their outstanding contribution to our community’s Wiki. The winner for the month of November is mfabiop who has added several excellent new articles and a history of contributing to Nokia Developers Wiki.


Wiki Administrator of the Month December 3rd 2008

I’d like to thank Jim Gilmour one of many Wiki administrators that work behind the scenes to keep our Wiki running smoothly.


Croozeus named October Contributor of the Month November 5th, 2008

Nokia Developer honors one member every month for their outstanding contribution to our community’s Wiki. The winner for the Month of October is croozeus who added several new articles in October. Croozeus is currently an administrator of the Nokia Developer Wiki and will not receive a prize. We still felt that Croozeus had done an outstanding job beyond the normal voluntary work for the Wiki.

Most months the Nokia Developer member that contributes in new articles or major edits is named the Wiki Contributor of the Month and is awarded a Nokia Multimedia Device for their contribution to the developer’s community .

The developer’s Wiki has a simplified rating system to make it easy for you to tell others how well a Wiki article is. All you need to do is carefully click on the star rating with one being lowest and five the highest rating.

Qt Announced October 20th, 2008

Qt today announced the porting of Qt to S60 on Symbian OS, the world’s leading, open smartphone platform. An early technical preview of Qt is available for download from the Qt website. Deadline Extended Win a new Nokia Device in the S60 5th Edition contest October 20th, 2008

The S60 5th Edition, platform includes a framework for the use of advanced sensor technology including TouchUI and Tactile Feedback. This API allows S60 device developers to create innovative device concepts for a wider range of user segments, while preserving the rich capabilities of the existing software platform.

You can win a new Nokia device by contributing the best quality or topical articles including: User Interface, How to’s, code examples or other articles regarding the new Symbian S60 5th during the month of October or November on the new S60 5th Edition APIs. See the Rules of Participation for more contest rules. As usual, the more that enter the more devices we will be giving away!!!


Nokia Releases Details on Maemo 5 October 14th, 2008

Maemo logo small.png Nokia recently released details of the next software version of maemo, the platform for mobile tablets based on GNU/Linux and other open source components. An alpha SDK is expected by year's end, according to Nokia, and then the company will work with the open source community to create the beta SDK.
Maemo, first introduced in 2005, is one of the core platforms for Nokia’s high-end products. Today maemo is the basis of the OS used in a range of Wi-Fi enabled Internet Tablets.


Aknyman Named Contributor of the Month October 7th, 2008

Nokia Developer honors one member each month for their outstanding contribution to our community’s Wiki as Wiki Contributor of the Month. The winner for the Month of September is aknyman who has created a series of useful articles on Open C++ development.
Since Aknyman works for a Nokia Contractor he will not be awarded any prize.

Widget Contributions Contest Winners
The Winner of the September Widget Contest is neois who will win a new N96 device for his series of articles for beginners, current developers and advanced techniques for Widget development. ck.umraliya has also won a new Nokia device for his four step introduction to Widgets development.

Nokia Developer honors one member every month for their outstanding contribution to our community’s Wiki. The winner for the Month of August is gaba88 who has been a bonus to the developers community for quite some time. In addition to being highly active with new articles on the Wiki, Gaba88 is also quite active on the Nokia Developer Discussion board. Showing a true sign of community spirit in his messages and articles Gaba88 is an outstanding proponent of the Python programming language.


Win an N96 in the Wiki Widget competition August 21st 2008

Nokia Developer is holding a Widget Wiki competition to be held from September 1st to 30th, 2008. The highest judged entry (or entries) will receive a Nokia N96 multimedia device and other top winners may receive a Nokia 6220 Classic device. The number of prizes will be determined by the number of entries with one prize for every ten entries. The rules are simple; contribute quality and topical code examples or articles around Widgets.
All code examples and articles submitted during the time period will be subjectively judged on how well they are presented, what the content is and the number of quality entries. For full information on the rules, prizes and judging see the Rules of Participation


hoolee is the July Contributor of the month August 12th 2008

Nokia Developer honors one member each month for their outstanding contribution to our community’s Wiki. The winner for the Month of July is hoolee who earned the Nokia developer’s community thanks for his contributions of several high quality articles and translations in Chinese. The Wiki moderators and I extend a warm thanks to hoolee for contributing to the developer community.


Layout of Nokia Developer Wiki Home Renewed August 11th 2008

Besides just layout renewal there are a few new elemants added to the front page. E.g. a new featured article is introduced every week, which will over time grow into a wide collection of Featured Articles picked and valued by the Wiki administrators. Also usernames of the contributors of recent articles were made more visible on the homepage.

Nokia Developer Wiki reaches 5,000 articles - Thank you Nokia Developer Members June 16th 2008

In less than 15 months Nokia Developer contributors have created over 5,000 articles on Nokia Developer Wiki that help and guide other developers. This is a gracious and unselfish act by the Nokia Developers Community.
