Series 40 is Nokia's platform for mass market featurephones. These phones ship in volume and there could be as many as one billion in use today, around the world. For developers, the Series 40 platform offers the ability to create applications using Java technology and Adobe Flash Lite as well as [http://www.developer.nokia.com/Develop/Web/Series_40_web_apps/ web apps] that run in [http://www.developer.nokia.com/Develop/Web/Nokia_Browser_for_Series_40/ Nokia Web Browser for Series 40] and can be deployed to Ovi Store. Announcements.pngNokia Asha software platform (10 May 2013): Series 40 has evolved into the Nokia Asha software platform with a brand new UI and a number of new Java ME APIs. To see both (all) Nokia Asha and Series 40 content check out the new entry point: Category:Nokia Asha.

The Nokia Asha platform is largely compatible with Series 40. As a result, while we'll be asking for your help to validate articles against the new platform and devices, you can still assume that most recent Java ME and Web Apps articles will remain accurate.
