How to install Cimbalino Windows Phone Toolkit packages

Overview

The Cimbalino Windows Phone Toolkit is a set of useful MVVM compatible tools/components for building Silverlight applications for Windows Phone. This article shows how to install the Cimbalino nuget package.

Solution

The Cimbalino packages are available in Nuget Package Manager (for both targets). They can be installed as follows:

  1. Open the project and select References, open the context menu with mouse (right click) and select Manage NuGet Packages …
    select Manage “Manage NuGet Packages …”
  2. Search for the package:
    Search for the package
  3. Install Cimbalino Toolkit:
    Cimbalino installed


Post-conditions

Nuget makes a number of "standard" changes:

  • The file packages.config file is added to the project, listing the installed packages:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <packages>
    <package id="Cimbalino.Phone.Toolkit" version="3.1.0" targetFramework="wp80" />
    <package id="Cimbalino.Phone.Toolkit.Background" version="3.1.0" targetFramework="wp80" />
    </packages>
  • The MVVM Light packages are installed to the project into a folder named packages, which you can find at the same level as the solution file:
