Windows Phone Diagnostic Tools
This article explains how to access the Windows Phone diagnostic tools.
Nokia Windows phones devices have a "hidden" diagnostic app. This app can be used to confirm that device functionality is present and working as expected, and is particularly useful for verifying whether "odd" results are due to your code or to information from the hardware.
The tools can be accessed for the first time by entering ##634# on the call screen/dialler. Subsequently the app is listed with all your others under the title Diagnostics.
The media player is loading...
What tools are included
The first option in the app is Run all tests which you can use to run a full set of diagnostic tests on your device. You can also run individual tests as listed in the following section. Note that some hardware may not be present on some devices, and hence some tests may not be valid.
The tools included (at time of writing 17th May, 2012) include:
- Audio Loopback
- Battery Status
- Gyroscope (not supported on Nokia Lumia 800)
- Hardware Buttons
- Headset Detection
- LCD White
- Power Source
Are these tools present on other Windows Phone devices
Yes. These tools are (anecdotally) present on other devices. Note however that they may be accessed through the file manager or some other key combination. The key combination for Nokia devices may not work.
