Do Good Mission Additional Terms to the Nokia Create Competition

These are additional terms to the Nokia Create Competition Terms that apply if you decide to participate in the Do Good Mission. Except as otherwise noted in these Do Good Additional Terms, all terms, conditions and definitions in Nokia Create Competition Terms apply here.

The Do Good Mission begins at 09:00 AM PST on October 1, 2013 and closes at 11:59 PM PST on December 15, 2013. Registrations for the Do Good Mission may be submitted on the Nokia Create Competition website at any and all times during this period.

The Do Good Mission is open to Entrants who create one or more new Windows Phone 8 applications, or who materially update any existing Windows Phone mobile application (either Windows Phone 7.x or Windows Phone 8) to the Windows Phone 8 platform that is designed to help make the lives of the visually impaired easier. The application does not necessarily have to be targeted for those who are completely blind, but may also include, for example, applications that assist the elderly experiencing poor vision, people who are color-blind, etc. The application(s) must be published in the Windows Phone Store globally before the Do Good Mission closes, and must include at least a free trial version of the same.

Entries submitted for the Do Good Mission will be judged based on (i) compliance with the Do Good Mission requirements; (ii) quality, functionality, real life use case; (iii) aesthetic design and creativity, (iv) usability by the target audience of visually impaired people; and (v) uniqueness, novelty value and innovativeness of the free and/or free trial version that are published in the Windows Phone Store globally. Additional criteria may also apply and will be posted on the Competition website.

Subject to Nokia receiving enough qualified Entries, one (1) overall winner of the Do Good Mission will be awarded the following:

  • A round-trip economy-class flight (if necessary based on the winner’s place of residence), or other reasonable travel for 1 person to Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona, Spain. Reasonable travel and accommodations for the winner will be provided by Nokia to attend Mobile World Congress 2014.
  • Showcasing of the winner’s application at Mobile World Congress 2014.
  • A round-trip economy-class flight (if necessary based on the winner’s place of residence), or other reasonable travel for 2 people to attend the 29th Annual International Technology and Persons with Disabilities Conference in San Diego, California, USA in March 2014. Reasonable travel and accommodations for the winner will be provided by Nokia to attend the conference.
  • Showcasing of the winner’s application at the 29th Annual International Technology and Persons with Disabilities Conference in San Diego, California, USA in March 2014.
  • Free UX consultation for the winner’s application to help optimize the application for the target audience.
  • The winner’s choice of one Nokia Lumia device, and one Nokia Gear item (selected by Nokia in its sole discretion) that is compatible with the Nokia Lumia device selected by the winner.
  • Promotion of the winner’s application by (1) on-device promotion of the application for a total of one calendar week within Windows Phone Store and one calendar week within App Social before the end of the 2014 calendar year (not necessarily consecutive days, with timing and placement on-device promotion left to Nokia’s full discretion); and (2) featuring the application on Nokia Developer channels.
  • A 5,000 EUR credit to run a promotion campaign for the application using the Microsoft Advertising pubCenter solution, or similar mobile advertising solution, as determined in Nokia’s sole discretion.

Average Retail Value (ARV) of the Do Good Mission winner prize package is 18,500.00 EUR. Meals, gratuities, parking, luggage fees, incidental charges and any other travel-related expenses not specified herein are the sole responsibility of winner. Travel must occur during Mobile World Congress 2014, and during the 29th Annual International Technology and Persons with Disabilities Conference. Actual value of travel prizes may vary based on point of departure and airfare fluctuations. Actual value of any device and gear prizes may vary based on the selection made by the winner and/or Nokia. Any difference between stated approximate retail value and actual value of prizes will not be awarded. All travel must be taken within dates for Mobile World Congress 2014, and within the date for the 29th Annual International Technology and Persons with Disabilities Conference or those prizes will be forfeited. Winner must sign and return a release before awarding of any prize. Winner must accept prizes as specified by Nokia or prizes may be forfeited. Prizes cannot be assigned, transferred, redeemed for cash, or substituted except by Nokia which may, at its sole discretion, substitute any prize with one of comparable value if the advertised prize becomes unavailable for any reason. Use of travel prizes is subject to the terms and conditions of the travel provider, and award of any third-party prizes are subject to the terms of such-third party provider, and Nokia assumes no responsibility or liability relating to use of, inability to use, or any attempt to use such prizes. The reporting and payment of any taxes for the prizes are the winner’s sole responsibility.

Winning Do Good Mission Entrants must have a valid passport/travel documents and visa if needed, and be eligible to travel to Barcelona, Spain to Mobile World Congress 2014 and/or to San Diego, California, USA to the 29th Annual International Technology and Persons with Disabilities Conference, in order to qualify for any winning transportation associated with certain prizes. Before entering the Do Good Mission, it is recommended that you check with your local embassy to determine visa requirements or travel restrictions to ensure your eligibility for travel.

Subject to Nokia receiving enough qualified Entries, up to nine (9) overall runner-up winners of the Do Good Mission will be awarded the following:

  • Free UX consultation for the application to help optimize it for the target audience.
  • The runner-up winner’s choice of one Nokia Lumia device, and one Nokia Gear item (selected by Nokia in its sole discretion) that is compatible with the Nokia Lumia device selected by the runner-up winner.

The ARV of the each Do Good Mission runner-up prize package is 1,650.00 EUR. Actual value of any device and gear prizes may vary based on the selection made by the winner and/or Nokia. Any difference between stated approximate retail value and actual value of prizes will not be awarded. Winner must sign and return a release before awarding of any prize. Winner must accept prizes as specified by Nokia or prizes may be forfeited. Prizes cannot be assigned, transferred, redeemed for cash, or substituted except by Nokia which may, at its sole discretion, substitute any prize with one of comparable value if the advertised prize becomes unavailable for any reason. The reporting and payment of any taxes for the prizes are the winner’s sole responsibility
