Quick start for HERE Launchers API

To be able to use the API in your project, you first need to get the library for the HERE launchers API and add it into your project. You can find the library from the HERE Launchers API project; simply visit the project and download the files to your hard drive. The library for the launchers API is located under the libraries folder, and the source codes for the library are located under the DLL folder.

To include the library into your project, you need to do the following tasks:

  1. Right-click the "References" folder in your project.
  2. Select "Add Reference" from the popup menu.
  3. Click the "Browse" button to start browsing your local folders.
  4. Locate the library file and click the "Add" button to add it into your project.

Show map with task launchers

After you have added the library into your project, you still need to add the namespace using into the project files in which you are going to use the API. To do this, add the following line into the C# file, right after the other using lines:

using Nokia.Phone.HereLaunchers;

After this, you can simply add the task launchers code pieces into the section in which you would want to use them. For example, if you want to show London with the HERE Maps application, you could do it like this:

ExploremapsShowMapTask showMap = new ExploremapsShowMapTask();
showMap.Location = new GeoCoordinate(51.501249,-0.126271);
showMap.Zoom = 10;
showMap.Show();

After you have successfully added the snippet to your application and executed it, you should have something like this on the phone screen:

While you can learn a lot about the API by just playing with it or looking at the Here Launchers API demo app, we recommend that you also read about the HERE Launchers API documentation to see what the API could offer for your applications.
